Baseball's last hurrah
And so begins the final weekend of MLB being on the center stage as college football kicks off this weekend and the NFL is creeping up not far behind.
We are less than a week out from the first NFL game next Thursday night (Chiefs-Ravens) and then the Eagles-Packers game on Friday night in Brazil.
It’s also my birthday tomorrow, and I am not saying which one, but it’s 40-something and I’m not that excited about it. I will watch some Penn State-West Virginia and try not to think about my impending mortality too much.
I thought I would like more about today’s MLB slate because there are a ton of games, but not too many matchups I love. I am going to stick with K props as the primary bet today, despite a rough showing (1-3) last night.
But before we get there, I thought we’d take a small peek ahead to Week 1 of the NFL season and get at least one bet on the books.
First Official Week 1 Bet
MIA -3 vs. JAX (-115)
So I had to go to FanDuel to find this at 3 points because DK has already moved it to 3.5 at +102. I try to avoid the hook whenever possible, even when I think a team like Miami could cover by 7-10 points in this spot anyway.
The Dolphins are simply a superior squad on offense and I don’t think the Jags can either a) slow them down or b) score enough points to keep up with them.
The Phins were awesome as home favorites last year, going 6-2 ATS with a massive 17.3-point margin of victory and a +7.8-point differential ATS.
I am grabbing them at -3 while I can, I think eventually they might move to -3.5 or -4 everywhere as we get closer to game day.
