MLB Best Bets: Monday, 6/5
Abbott's big debut
It was a very successful Sunday and it gives me some optimism that the tide is turning back in my (and our) favor. The overall record is evened up and the overall units won is back in the positive, so that’s always a good thing. I hope to keep that trend going this week.
I was excited about this slate, despite it being a small one thanks to another rookie who could make a big splash in his debut. Andrew Abbott is being called up from AAA to make his first MLB start today at home against the Brewers. While he has shown a proclivity for allowing the long ball, he’s also piling up strikeouts in bunches (35% K rate), continuing a trend we saw from him at other lower levels of the minors.
He couldn’t get a better matchup today as he’ll face the Brewers and their league-leading 29% K rate to LHP. We have a low number on him today, so a chance to speculate on his abilities and maybe hit a ladder play if he ends up doing what he has the potential to do from a strikeout perspective.
A quick recap, then onto today’s card!
Sunday Recap
Overall: 10-4, +4.85 units
So we swept our ML plays and all three K props from the article. Hitter props were solid, too, with Goldy being the only miss there and Blackmon being a no-bet as he didn’t play.
The SGP hit, but the SGPx missed thanks to Arenado (another Cardinal who whiffed) going hitless. I got some people telling me they like the SGPs, so I will try to keep posting those as often as I can, especially while they have these good boosts on DK.
Through June 4: 362-362-2, +4.83 units
