TNF/NBA Crossover: 10/31
It's Halloween but I'm not scared of these bets!
It’s Thursday, which means it’s an NFL/NBA crossover day with one football game and four basketball games on the agenda.
It’s also Halloween, so it’s going to be a busy night with getting the kids around to the neighborhood to stock up on candy that I then have to slowly dole out to them over the next 3-4 months.
I’m getting this out nice and early today, so I hope you have a chance to read it and get your bets in well in advance of any of the games you are going to be sweating tonight.
Let’s roll with the NFL first and I’ll keep those picks out in front of the paywall with my NBA stuff to follow.
NFL BETS
Jets-Texans
The line has started moving back towards Houston, but they are still officially underdogs at this moment and I can’t pass up the opportunity to bet against the Jets.
My big focus for props tonight is Joe Mixon. While I think he will do okay running the ball against a mediocre Jets front-seven, where I think he will really be asked to help this offense is in the passing game.
CJ Stroud has lost Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins to injuries, leaving Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz as the only regular pass catchers and then a bunch of backup-level talent.
Mixon is a solid pass-catcher at the RB position and finished last week with 4 catches on 6 targets (both season-highs) for 32 yards receiving.
The Jets are 26th in DVOA defense vs. the RB position - and if they load up to stop the run tonight, then we should see Houston get Mixon the ball in the air instead.
